There is an endless supply of knowledge here, you'll soon make this your home! :) You will also soon learn that most of the stuff on TV isn't such a good deal.

to CCF. If you are new to collecting the best thing to do is buy a reference book in the area ya want to collect. Red Book for US Chilton for Canadian Krause for general (they come in centuries 1800's, 1900's) Use them as a reference. SO when HSN has sales - check it out before ya buy. Good luck

to the Community! It is generally accepted that "home shopping" offerings are always overpriced and often over-hyped. But everyone has to start somewhere and almost everyone has made a purchase that proves to be less than successful. Hang around here a while and I think that in the long run you will do just fine!

Nice Avatar there Riverside Rob....... But, as to the question, I would say NEVER BUY FROM THE HOME SHOPPING NETWORK EVER AGAIN !.......the coins you buy from them ARE overpriced and generally would take 3 lifetimes to MAYBE have your coins appreciate in value enough to get "even money" for what you paid. Home Shopping Network is an "evil empire" and their goons should be put on trial and hung. They are the "Snake Oil Saleman" of the mordern age. You know, the kind of people that back in the Old West they would tar and feather and run out of town ? This is the Home Shopping Network ilk. I'll tell ya how I REALLY feel about them another day.....

Red Book and establish a relationship with a dealer. Check ebay and Heritage for ballpark selling prices. If a dealer dismisses you as a noob, high pressures you or simply acts disinterested find another dealer. Denis

HSN/QVC et al, are entertaining to watch, because even used car salesmen don't use those kind of ultra-obvious 'hard-sell' spiels anymore!
The markups on coins sold on TV are ridiculous! There are also a few catalog sellers that are equally ridiculous....
You could always log on here, and ask some of us what "×" coin is worth.
