Is the Ace 250 worth the extra $50 to $80 over the Tracker 4? I am thinking about buying a metal detector. I had a Garrett as a kid back in the early 80's and I am sure the technology has gotten better since then!

In order to give an objective opinion you would need some one who had used both. Unlikely as they are both entry level machines. I however love my Ace..

Too late! I got my Ace last weekend. I've spent most of this weekend just practicing in the back yard: trying to discern the tone trash makes vs. coins, pinpointing and not digging huge holes, etc. It's fun so far.
