We are looking for coins minted starting in the decade of 500 to 510 AD.

What exists from that era? None of the roman/ byzantine emperors fit the bill (unless we have a more precisely dated one), not does the Sasanian empire work.

Well for v2.0, we relied on @finn with a Sasanian Drachm:

In this general timeframe, I've got coins from the Axumite Kingdom, Gepids (Ostrogoths), and Byzantine Empire, but none are datable to a tight enough range. My Sasanian coins are from either earlier or later than this decade so I'm no help.
