Commems Collection Medals: 1967 Niagara Falls, NY 75th Anniversary

in 1967, the Chamber of Commerce of the the City of Niagara Falls, NY sponsored a commemorative medal to mark the 75th anniversary of the city's incorporation in 1892.

The obverse of the medal, shown here in silver, presents a side (or profile) view of the American Falls with the Horseshoe Falls of Canada seen in the background. The medal's reverse, in bronze, features the logo of the 75th anniversary celebrations. The medal was designed by local artist - Carl Cadille.

The Chamber sold 0.999 fine silver and bronze versions of the medal; the size, regardless of metallic composition, is 39 mm. At the time of the medal's release, the published mintage for the bronze was 10,000; the mintage for the silver piece was listed as "very limited" but a specific figure was not given. (I would estimate 1,000 or less based on other issues of the time.) The medals were struck by Medallic Art Company of New York.
