As I am looking through dad's pennies, I came across this one. The rim seems to stray off into the field on the obverse and Cud on the reverse.
Does this add value?
I hope I explained it well. still trying to learn the ropes.

It looks like the coin has been damaged. The rim is sheared on the obverse with metal displacement. On the reverse the surface has been gouged with metal pushed to the North. The coin looks like it continued to circulate after the damage. Not an error, just Post Mint Damage, PMD. No added value here, sorry.

Not an error, just a damaged coin.

How could this happen. It looks like it was chopped with a knife at an angle and thus made a glancing blow, peeling the rim area on each side of the coin.

I agree, looks as if someone tried to cut this coin, therefore it's post mint damage ( PMD).
