Did they really issue sets looking like this back then?
I mean, at LEAST line up the coins in the same direction!

I think I remember meeting the Mint worker that packaged those. Met him in a bar. He tried to tell me his name but words were to slurred. Bought him a Martini and he went back to work.

Uh, assuming the image is cropped and he is not showing the entire holder, the answer is YES.

Have you seen original sets from back then? They didn't try to have all the coins lined up the same way. Also, since the back of the coins are not visible in the holder, over the years many times the coins were popped out of the holder for examination and then put back in. Especial when offering the set for sale because the buyer wanted to see both sides of the coin.

OK, found the ebay sale and from the way the description is worded I think you are right he is only selling a portion of a mint set. yet he calls it a mint set in the title. Shady I will say one thing though, of all the 1955 "mint sets" being sold on ebay right now, this is the only one that is in the original holder, so as far as I am concerned none of th others are Mint sets either.
