Quite possibly , I can only comment on buying the individual proof unc silvers. In general I paid on average $4-$5 each inc shipping.Looking at it that way its cheaper buying individual coins but you dont get the nice holder

I always buy a silver proof set each year and a regular proof set each year and the quarters are included with the other coins in either silver or clad but I have never bought the quarters by themselves

I would say they are worth it. Think about it this way- this is the pinnacle of quality in the minting of State Quarters. However, I do not purchase the silver quarter set, I buy the entire silver proof set so I have all the coins. The five piece set is nice though if you are only interested in the quarters.

I bought them individually as I figured its the only way id get all of them in proof unc and silver.I started late in collecting them , just a few months back.
Each came in an airtite, some cheaper than others.

I think they are worth it, They usually have a smaller mintage than the regular proof sets. Plus if you are collecting every coin produced for a particular year, then they would definitely be included.

I too think buying the silver proof sets and proof sets are a smart move, as I also order from the mint both every year...

I've decided to collect all ten silver proof sets - quarters only.

Course, then the territories series, then the National Parks, then the I-5 rest stop series........

I am a few sets off from a complete proof set including clad. I love the silver proofs and glad I added them to my collection.

I've got them all in Proof......but not all in Silver Proof....
Not willing to spend the money to do that. Had I found the Mint's website back in 1999, then I may have them all now in Silver Proof.....but, hindsight is 20/20.
From about '06 forward, I've been getting the Silver Proof Sets and plan to continue with that. (Proofs too)
But yeah, I'd say they're worth it, now and long term.

i have never bought any silver quarters.. I like many others here buy the full proof sets and I have silver and clad proofs from 1999 on the clads and I am missing a couple on the silver 2001 and 02 I think,.. If I were gonna start an album I would buy that set in the silver and clad b/c I dont want to break up a proof b/c I only get 1 each... But you did give me an idea I might have to do it for the National park quarters.. B/c the set will be starting when I can keep up with it

Ahhhhh.....but will the "First Year" of these "Park Qtrs." have the same value as the "First Year" of the "State Qtrs." (Silver Proof)
I was at auctions where that 1999 Silver Proof Set was going for $800.00 or so !....
Of course, since we're all ready for that to happen again...that means one thing...... IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN !....
I'll be prepared this time.......but not expecting it to happen !
Anybody want to dare to predict that this 2010 Silver Proof Set will increase 500% in value ?.............didn't think so !

While I might expect a modest bump for the 2010 quarters, it won't happen again like it did for the 1999 quarters. The premium for the 1999 quarters is mostly availability. The only way to get Silver Quarters in 1999 was from the Silver Proof set; that is, there was no option to get just a set of the Silver Quarters.
