Hello and thank you for Welcoming me into your community. I'm an amateur coin collector at best and all though I've done tons of research I cannot make heads or tails of this Morgan. It's an 1879 but it has the reverse of an 1878 but it has no mint mark. I was under the impression only the S mint had the 1878 reverse, but I'm probably wrong. What I can tell you about the coin is it appears to be uncirculated, it definitely has doubling on several of the letters and stars, it has a frosty looking finish on it, and above the U N I on the reverse it has perfect little brass colored lines right above the letters. Hopefully someone can inform me on whether I found something special or just another 1879 Morgan. Again thank you for welcoming me to your community and look forward to hearing your responses.

It is a fake. There were no 1879 reverse of '78 Morgans struck at the Philadelphia mint.

Can't tell for sure, but that looks like Rev of '79. Can we get larger images of the reverse?

Edit: The coin does have some questionable attributes. Again, hard to tell from the supplied photos, but the date looks off and the details I can make out on the reverse look out of proportion in certain places.
