Spotted this today in a shop's unsorted material, & picked it up as such for a pittance. Pretty even dark brown toning on the obverse, with perhaps just the tiniest traces of original luster on the reverse (note the die crack at about 4 o'clock). Minimal wear to my eye. What numerical grade would you assign to it?

Wearwise, I'd say XF+, but whatever is on/in Regina may make it a details coin. Nice pick-up. It wouldn't take too much to make AU.

I'll say EF-45 (Sheldon).

Shown in its "as found" state. Subsequently, the lightest dab with a cotton swab soaked in distilled water totally removed that white stuff. I have no concerns whatsoever about its being "details" annotated.

Here's the obverse again after a distilled water rinse. I'm hard pressed to see what would prevent this example from certifying with a clean grade in the AU range.

Even at AU, It would cost more to certify it than the coin would ever be worth. I think that it's now an XF+ grade, no details.
