Hi All,
Another one I ran across. There are known DDO's for the 1941's, but I checked this '41 S just to see, and found what looks like a DDO on most of LIBERTY. There was one example on Variety Vista for a 1941 S DDO-001, but PCGS doesn't have record of any graded/recognized yet.
Suggestions on 1- If this is a DDO, and 2- How to best get it graded/recognized if it is?
Thanks - appreciate any input. =)

This is just MD.

1941-S DDO-001 also has MD, but that's not why it's listed. It's important to read the description: "Medium extra thickness on LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST with light extra thickness on date." DDO-001 has Class VI doubling, the letters are extra thick. The Machine Doubling on the tops of the letters is unrelated.

Note the mintmark locations are different.

I agree with the issue of Machine Doubling. Note all the areas are flat and lower than the example of the real DDO-001. Also note the 'U' on TRUST. Machine Doubling, sorry.

Thanks everyone, and Coop, for your expert opinion. Getting closer to distinguishing true DD from MD. On to the next roll... =)

Machine Doubling is fairly common, a true Doubled Die coin is pretty rare.
