A friend has a $1 from 1937 and is curious as to value. I don't collect notes, so I don't have a catalogue--any ideas?
I don't have a pic, but my initial guess was around VF. Thanks for your help!

I would say the value is between $5-10

There are two different types of '37 dollar bills, though. Some have a wide colored panel under the King, some have a narrow colored panel. It is the latter that are worth more on the Gordon - Towers notes.

Note that on the narrow panel notes there will be a bigger space between the top of the oval and the frameline.

Canada-1937-$1-Note--Value?

The narrow panel can go for as much as three times the value of the wide panel, depending on condition.

Kurts, what are the signature's on the note? fairly important, to know the value.

If, it was for instance, a Gordon/Towers narrow panel, with prefix j/a in VF it would be roughly worth $700.00 or so.

Wow! Next time I drop by my friend's shop, I'm going to check, thanks! And, I will tell him if it's the rare one.
