I've been trying to get in touch with the US Mint's customer service via phone but I keep getting either a busy tone, or if I press 1 for placing an order, 2 hours go by (lol) and no one answers. Does anyone know when their call center is open or when their chat is available? Need to get this done before they automatically cancel my order...

@ TheInfinityPoint press 1 for placing an order and leave your number. I received the same email you did yesterday. They called me back after about an hour and a half. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip psuman08, how did you select the option to leave your phone number? I pressed 1 as well, which was the only option that didn't give me a busy tone. I did eventually get through after a 2 hour wait. FYI I got the email as well about my backordered type 2 W silver eagle. The customer service rep mentioned that everyone got that email so it sounds like accounting dept messed up and now customer service has to clean up the mess...

After pressing 1 to purchase the message that repeated about every 30 seconds says to press 1 to leave your number for a call back. I waited on hold for about 30 minutes then just left my number.
Mine was for the a backordered 1/10 gold. She told me my card did not go through the first time. She re-ran it without issue. I still don't understand the issue though because they should not run the card until they are shipping it. Sounds like it is tied to the website to me and the card processing being messed up when you order on backorder.

Thanks John!
Interesting, I wasn't paying full attention, but the message that repeated every 30 seconds was the standard "we value your business" and mentioned nothing about call back. In any case that's good to know, thanks!

I just got the text that my coin shipped. So much for being on backorder until October.

Smoke signals?
Seriously: Wait until they're not swamped by a new release...

I thought that they had a 1-800 number but smoke signals might work to.

Go through one of the U.S. Mint's major customers, such as a long established coin dealer. Perhaps with such an approach, the dealer may be able to give you the exact answer you are looking for anyway.
With semi Government businesses, I have long since given up having be kept on hold, or wait for a return answer that never comes.
