I have a 1984 P mint set. My penny has no mint mark and possible other things as well. On R side the initials JG are not right. Still learning so which is it, die dent, plating blisters or occluded gas bubbles or die cracks? Opinions please and thank you.
The Mint never included the P on a Lincoln Cent until the 2017 Cent so this is normal. You couldn't have occluded gas bubbles because those were only present on pre-1982 cents that were made of copper (some 1982 Lincolns were made of copper, this was the transitional year to zinc). You probably have blistered plating issues. The FG appears normal to me.
Quote: Shaper photos would help (mostly on the FG photo)
Why would we need sharper photos? This is a zinc cored copper plated Lincoln Cent with plating issues. These are not Proof strikes but that wouldn't matter either even if they were as they are not copper. The FG on the reverse of this Cent is normal even though a couple of the OP's pics, with the glare, are distorted. This is a normal run of the mill Lincoln.
