While going through some old stuff I came across a envelope full of paper money. Some of it seems to worth more then face but not entirely sure. Here is a rundown of what was found and some pictures.. Any idea on the value of any of it would be greatly appreciated. I am not sure what these are called but they are full stacks with the original binding with all sequential serials in non-circulated condition. $5 1963 3x $2 1976 $1 1963B Here some random bills that appear to at least be a slight error.. but not sure if poor cutting really counts as an error... any insight would be appreciated. $20 1928 gold certificates $1 1928 Also if anyone knows any other good paper money collecting sites I could post this on that would be great. I got a bunch of single stuff as well that I will list if activity is high enough.

Brand new stack of Red-Seal $5s?! A $20 GOLD IN FINE CONDITION?! Well for $5s, the going price is about $10-15 per note uncirculated, and if you have the stack of 40 sequential notes, it should command a higher premium. And for the $20 gold, maybe around $50 or so... For the others, I guess you can check ebay for prices. Otherwise, and what great notes you have! Especially the gold $20! oh yeah... as for the $2s, probably only about 10% - 20% over face value because you can still get some from the bank (even 1976 ones) if you're lucky.

I think one dealer is offering $2 each in the back of Coin World for CU packs of Barr notes with 100 notes in a pack.

Thank you for having the presence of mind to not take those to a bank! My aunt/uncle found $20k in gold notes... and just deposited them in the bank! Told us later that they had funny yellow serial numbers.

Question: Where do you go through old stuff? What's the story here?
Awesome notes, by the way.

The 1963b $1s also command a pretty good premium, I don't have my book infront of me, can look them up later for you.

Yea that would be great. Having a hard time finding a more narrow range of prices so far. I noticed on ebay, ones that are certified in a particular condition selling for quite a lot more then non certified ones. Would that be worth it to get the stack certified? If so where and how. example: http://cgi.ebay.com/1963-B-1-BARR-C...-2_W0QQitemZ130279732368QQihZ003QQcategoryZ40029QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Quote: Would that be worth it to get the stack certified? If so where and how. Yes and no to be honest. If I'm not mistaken, note grading is more expensive than coin grading at the top TPG's. PCGS offers their own service, and PMG is the offering/sister company to NGC. Both of these will need a membership for submittal, but if you're going to submit them anywhere, one of these two would give you the biggest ROI. http://www.pmgnotes.com/services/services.asphttp://www.pcgscurrency.com/pricing.htmlBoth of them have "bulk" submissions for consecutive number notes, but I think they are still a minimum of $12 each, and a minimum number you need to submit. However, usually you get some free submissions when first joining. Just not sure if "one" bulk submission of 25 is considered one submission or 25 submissions. The example you showed from ebay is nice. If your stack is $50, it may be worth taking a couple out and submitting to see what you get back for grade. If they come back pretty high, submit a block of 25. Have you found any other examples online? Heritage, Teletrade? Oh, and where are my manners, Welcome to the forum! EDIT: Definitely check out Heritage completed auctions for what you have to get a better idea before you split up any of the packs.

Alright gonna look around and check those out more. Still trying to learn where to even begin to consider selling these. ebay is obviously my first guess but seems there may be better options. Thanks for all the help!

oops, forgot to ask one other question.
Is there anywhere to find a list of legitimate and "certified" coin and note dealers? I wouldn't mind taking them in somewhere for a real look/possible sell. But I don't want to deal with someone who could be untrustworthy.

Tell us approximately where you live and someone else on the forum may know of local trusted dealers. For the most part, it doesn't seem like you have anything that needs authentication per se, so I think prices realized on HA and Teletrade, and completed listings on ebay would get you close to good estimates.
