Pictures are a little small but from what I can see it looks EF-40, could go higher with better pictures.

I am guessing that you scanned this coin since I cannot see a bit of luster. I think I see some rub so I will call it AU. With better pics, it could go higher.

yes - the image is a scanned image. I don't have a camera that takes good enough quality photos to use. thanks for your input.

If you bought your camera in the last 3 years or so, you might be surprised. What kind of camera do you have?

There is a section on this forum with tips on coin photography. In particular, check out this thread:

https://goccf.com/t/29441&whichpage=1

I've taken decent pictures with lesser camera used in that thread...4 megapixel and 3x optical zoom.

the camera I am using is a kodak - easyshare cx7720, 2.0 mega pixels, with a 3x (max.) zoom. I use it mostly for photographing buildings. so far I haven't been too successful with coins.

If that camera has a timer for the shutter, and a macro mode for getting up closer to the coin, you may be able to take passable (is that a word?) pics of larger coins. Tripod or something to hold the camera steady required.

But dimes, cents, and nickels would be more difficult.
