Best practice is to not resurrect an old Zombie thread but start a new one. This retired thread has not had any activity for 15 months.

That said - I agree with your approach. Return the balance to circulation and it might inspire a kid someone to begin collecting.

Then again, I see posts mentioning that "there is already a thread on this topic".

In our coin club, be gather up wheat cents and have a children's day at the local library where young collectors can pick out ones they need for their collection.

With all due respect, I disagree with nickelsearcher regarding the resurrection of an old thread and agree with nss-52 in that if a topic thread already exists, why create a new one ?

In hindsight, the more appropriate thread for my post was probably the one titled "What To Do With All The Wheaties?"

btw, I love the local library idea.

I keep all my wheaties, no matter the date or mint mark. They've all been around for a while; just imagine the stories they could tell if they could talk.

if it were me:

i keep anything 1931 and earlier. all the others get passed along.
