$53. Seller describes the coin as pressed with VLDS dies. Reverse seems to show a full horn, but the overall strike on both obverse and reverse does look weak. Thoughts? Thanks!

This is a tough one! VLDS obverse and reverse, and very weakly struck for a 16D. Curious what in hand pics will show as far as surface originality, not sure there. Assuming surfaces are original, AU58-MS63 for me. Not my cup of tea eye appeal wise, but for the price, makes a good example for strike and die state issues with this series.

Could be MS, but I don't have your inclination to buy coins from poor images.

Besides the strike issue, it does appear to have light circulation. AU-58.

Wow.

Is this one coming in slabbed or raw? I wonder if this is struck on a thin rolled planchet? If so, it would be underweight. The metal flow lines are extreme, but parts of the strike look fairly sharp. On the obverse, the bottom of the ribbons and the lower parts of LIBERTY actually look decent. On the reverse, the ground line above FIVE CENTS, EPU, and the stops separating UNITED STATES OF AMERICA look sharp.
