A friend claims Monticello will be returned to the reverse of the $2 note to celebrate the building's 250th anniversary, which happens next year. I suspect if that were true I'd have heard about it before. I've always perferred Monticello's look over the too-dark Signing reverse.
I would be surprised to see that. Typically the BEP doesn't do commemorative designs.they leave that to the United States Mint. I would be happy with either design.
