I don't collect too many US coins but picked this baby up in a bag of bulk coins (Meaning I paid very little for it - like melt or less). Looking pass the staining I originally thought barely Fine as it has a full Liberty and not much more. But photo grading sites I would say VF25, as there is more detail than VF, with individual hair detail coming through on Liberty's hair below the Liberty thing. Also the bottom leaf on the Dime side has a lot of detail. I know it has some verdigris/stain thing around "Dime", but would you say its VF American (Fine by British standards, but I try to grade my American coins by Sheldon standards). Also pleased its 1915S a less common date.

I saw this nice dime with your other recent finds list, and I would probably grade it approximately at VF-30 by the Sheldon scale .

That's a nice coin for melt price.
What is that sticking out of the top of the 9 and the side of the second 1 ?

Looks VF30 to me as well, though a bit tough to judge surfaces. Regardless, great find for melt!

Might even be EF sharpness (Sheldon), but the stain detracts.

My call is VF-35 . My main issue is the slight wear on the reverse denticles . Nice coin for the price .

VF-30 but the photos make it looked like it was cleaned.

Nice cherrypick! I agree that it is probably in the VF30-35 range.

I bought a 1911 half dollar Barber for a gift frame I was doing for my sister last year, I showed it to a local dealer and he said mine was vf or so, that being said looking at the picture, id say maybe there was some old cleaning, but what do I know LOL

Thanks guys. Yes the 9 looks a bit susso - but I have noticed many 1915 dated S dimes have that same ropey look 9.
Also its New Zealand, a country full of wannabe coin cleaners - so if its cleaned I am not surprised. However if it was, it was years ago as some blackening and tone has come back. Every now and then I get a good US coin or two, most of the stuff I buy in is littered with clad rubbish, mostly pennies, nickels and dimes.
For some reason I seem to have a lot of 1964 dated nickels!
Also here in NZ I have noticed a lot of our pre 1970 US coin finds are San Francisco mint - possibly as this mint is closest to the Pacific rim area.
