I searched the forum and I see this topic has come up before, but from what I could see not in a couple years (well, not as a primary topic, anyhow). What are your thoughts on crossing over PCGS Currency graded notes to PMG?

Most of my graded notes are in PMG holders so I'm not terribly interested in crossing to PCGS Banknote holders. I have almost 30 notes in the older PCGS Currency holders. None are rare or high-dollar, with an average value of about $400.

My first inclination is just to leave the notes as they are considering the cost and the chance that many may not cross at the same grade. However, I'm wondering if as more time passes since PCGS Currency ceased operations, will there be more buyer and dealer hesitancy in purchasing PCGS Currency notes, especially now that PCGS has established it's own PCGS Banknote grading service? It appears to me I'm already seeing fewer PCGS Currency notes offered at the major auction sites, but that may just be my misperception...

Last I heard, the crossover rate was around 70%, but that must be a year ago.

I've seen the subject discussed before with opinions going both ways. I also have many notes in PCGS holders and I'm in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp. PCGS (K3B) didn't go belly-up because of its grading standards, and I don't see auction prices suffering on quality notes in their holders. Save your money for new additions, not grading is my vote.

That's a good point, SteveInTampa, thanks. Anyhow, as with coins, I always buy the note (or coin) and not the holder, so good advice on just saving my money...
