Its definitely an overdate but what date ? is it more than likely a 79/78 ? also I have no reference material which covers this coin , If anyone can give me a weight and approximate value ? and just for fun a really nice die crack ! There are two over dates for this year, 1879 over 69 and 1879 over 78. Yours looks to be the 79 over 78 type. I'd grade it just under EF-40, value about $20 probably a little more with the die crack. Numismat Pillar of the Community United States 1666 Posts	Posted 01/15/2009 5:32 pm Metalman, a real nice example such as this, with a clear over-date would sell about double the listed Krause value. Slightly lower grade examples often go for $25-$30, on ebay. Early Chilean coins are quite undervalued in Krause. Especially the 1/2, 1, 2 and 2 1/2 cent pieces. Again, this is a real nice example.
