Since the island locked down in 1959 and before that it was an American tourist destination (or so I have read) ,do you guys ever wonder how many American coins are stranded there? I have often wondered if there are many key dates there, 09-s vdb, 16-d mercury, 26-s buffalo, even a 43 copper penny? 55 double die, 3 legged buffalo and many more. If Americans are ever allowed to freely travel there, I would think some ambitious person may find something? Any thoughts?

One of my very good customers when

Over 3 or 4 trips brought back lots of gear
to sell me . Believe me not much was
Spectacular . Mostly Early Cuba in nice grade the
odd Gold piece and some Spanish Colonial .

I don't remember seeing a single coin shop when I was there on vacation in 2010, and there were none of the guys in outdoor markets with a pile of old coins on a blanket, like you get in most Latin American countries. The only thing I did see was locals offering the (current) Che Guevara portrait 3-peso coins and notes to tourists for much more than their face value - tourists generally only use convertible pesos, although you can change them easily enough for moneda nacional at a bank...
