I don't remember seeing a single coin shop when I was there on vacation in 2010, and there were none of the guys in outdoor markets with a pile of old coins on a blanket, like you get in most Latin American countries. The only thing I did see was locals offering the (current) Che Guevara portrait 3-peso coins and notes to tourists for much more than their face value - tourists generally only use convertible pesos, although you can change them easily enough for moneda nacional at a bank...
