I am thinking about sending coins to ICG(lincolns to be exact) for grading at 12 dollars a coin , I can get an idea of what I have.. Do you guys feel confident that ICG will catch questionable color coins? If most on here think so I may do that.. I have often read that you can expect a grade or two lower from PCGS and NGC. I am also concerned about AU coins. I have a few ICG coins that look better than the same NGC coin of the same date and both have the same grade. If I could ever learn how to take sharp pictures with correct color, I feel confident several members could help with some of my decisions. I already know it's a coin toss! Any thoughts? I have A LOT of PCGS AND NGC coins that I scratch my head and wonder about their grade

I don't think I would ever send coins to ICG. ANACS would be preferable to me for avoiding membership fees.

I too would never go ICG. For a few bucks more I'd definitely say ANACS. That said, at the end of the day, no matter which TPG you go with it's just an opinion. There are plenty of slabs labeled QC that aren't and plenty of straight grade slabs that are QC/AT, from ANY TPG. That said, I'd trust ICG the least of the bunch to get it correct. I'd recommend just sending in a couple to try your luck with the opinions, assuming posting on here is out of the question.

Every ICG coin I've went to sell off barely got raw prices, a few I had to crack out and send to NGC just to make sure I could get NGC prices on them.

ICG's nickname is "I can't grade" which is truly unfair. There are coins where we could argue the grade in EVERYONE's holders.

ICG will slab counterfeit coins in their educational holder - they're the only ones who do (knowingly).

Their holder is actually quite nice. They have an expired patent on it, based on the stress contour that shows tampering.

ICG shouldn't even be a consideration. They're not recognized by dealers and educated collectors probably don't own any ICG coins.
If you're concerned about money use ANACS. I don't know their regular prices but I know they had a special running last spring or summer: submit 10 coins for $10, which included the return shipping cost, if I remember correctly.
They're under valued in my opinion and eventually I'm going to buy some ANACS Peace and Morgan dollars, crack them open and send them to PCGS and see how close to each other they are.
——I'm sure that's an experiment that someone has done already. Does anyone know where to find the details?
PCGS does offer a "Reholder" service but it's more expensive than submitting a raw coin.
Try ANACS and I'll bet you're satisfied.
