Recently pulled some money from the bank and found this $50 in the bunch. Looked into it a little and can't find much. The ink smears match the same exact color and reflectivity of the reflective $50 security ink and the smears are on both sides of the $50. Just wondering if this is a rare bill and if certified an educated guess on approximate value. Thank you all ahead of time.

I haven't seen anything like that before. I'm also interested to know what the experts say.

Both sides would be helpful. The smears are on top of the other printing, which makes me a bit suspicious that it might be just gold ink applied after the note was released into circulation. However, I don't know when the gold security ink is applied as part of the printing process.

The 50 on the note is color shifting ink. The smudge looks like gold paint from a hobby shop to me. If the smudge was from the BEP, wouldn't it be color shifting? Notes are not my area,so if I am talking out of my you know what sorry all.

Excellent point. This may be the answer to the source of the stain.

I am having issues with the uploader due to image size, maybe it's user error lol. The color does shift at different angles though the gold is most pronounced. Could someone possibly direct me to a way to resize the image?

Skeptical. Just can't conceive of how this "error" could have happened.
