I'm not sure if someone was trying to make a fake coin or what the plating does not match the coin it self, looks like flowing hair on the obverse. My friend is curious about it. Only info I could give him was bent and someone plated it.

Looks like it has shellac on it and the bright areas is where it has come off.

Looks like gold leaf.
I've done a few coins with some of my wife's gold leaf, quite inexpensive, about a buck a coin, but not very durable and should be shellacked or varnished.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

The KGV large cents would look nice in gold IMO, like if had issued a gold coin with the same design, like a 5 dollar gold piece.
