Hey, I'll go off American here and nominate Charles Darwin. The reasoning being that the role Darwin had on American science is awesome (he influenced the Europeans of course, but nothing like here). I work in Psychology and his impact is felt in everything I do. Obviously his impact in Biology and genetics is more obvious, however, I adore him.

Ummm...errr...because I only spent about 2 minutes thinking about my list.

UK is putting Darwin on the back of the £2 this year.
