Jamzrob: to the CCF!

One of the most important questions that can be asked about a coin concerning authenticity:
"From where did this coin come from?"
The answer to such a question must have independently verifiable proof.

In this case, that is one of the one main reasons why the authenticity has to be supported by independently provable provenance.

The surface roughness on the obverse can be the result of conditions associated with burial, but also can be reproduced with a fake made in good silver.
If it was my coin, I would proceed with an XRF test looking for trace impurities in the alloy, not silver.

Hey Thanks @sel_69l

I've reached out to the seller regarding origin and am gonna get an XRF done.

Do you notice any other tell tale signs besides the roughness that might lead you to think this is a fake?

My 'gut' feeling says it is OK, but
I am normally cautious for any reason, until I am reasonably satisfied in consideration of any ancient over of significant value that I may buy.

I shy away from ebay, unless I know the seller.
