While poking through acsearch recently, I ran across some references to this collection of ancients and medievals, which was auctioned off at Roma Numismatics in 2016.

A part of my family was in the circles of eminent American physicists like Dr. Gell-Mann, but I didn't know he was a coin collector.

Curious if any of our ancient collectors (or collectors of ancients ) has anything with provenance from that collection.

Would have loved to have met him and gotten his thoughts on how quantum entanglement works.
Sorry I also didn't know he was a coin collector and I haven't been very active in ancients lately.

I am guessing he would have been glad to share his thoughts. The thing that impressed me about this group was how unpretentious they were, at least in social settings (another one went on to win a Nobel in Chemistry).

As an aside, I noticed that Roma mis-attributed the only coin from Lorraine in that collection. A common one that a few of us have in our collections.
