Hi all,
I have seen that the "STAR" bills issued are replacements, my question is:-
Are they replacing bills of a specific series or just old & worn out ones (any years) that have been taken out of circulation & burned/shredded at the time.
Thank you
Merv

Star notes are used as replacement notes for damaged notes of the current series being printed. The worn notes being removed from circulation, which can be a variety of different series, have nothing to do with the use replacement notes.

Merv4468:- Newbies never ask 'dumb' questions.
Instead -
to the CCF!

Stevein Tampa has said it right.

In fact, Australia used to issue star Notes into circulation for exactly the same reason, and all Aussie star notes are collectible, irrespective of condition.

Hi all,
Another question...
The Buffalo nickels with no date, are they undated coins when minted or are they "no date" just a normal coin that the date has worn off due to ware?
Thanks again

Another question.
I have seen on the "from circulation" section that some people report that they have found "Wheaties" & "Coppers" at the time. eg. found 3 wheaties & 4 coppers.
The information that I have seen says that all "Wheaties" except for the war ones are made of copper. My question is what does the "4 coppers" part refer to?
Thanks
Merv

Merv - not sure if anyone answered your previous question, but no Buffalo nickels were issued undated. The date is on one of the highest points on the coin and tends to wear off in circulation.

I didn't see the original post, but I imagine someone referring to finding 'coppers' when roll hunting US cents may be referring to any pre-1982 copper cents, as opposed to the post-1982 copper-plated zinc ones.
