Got these in with a bunch of other coins at a garage sale back in the 1970's and
don't have the expertise to identify them.

Im 77 and getting rid of nearly everything I have accumulated over the years.

The Larger coin is about 27mm across and the smaller one is about 24 1/2mm

I have no way of weighing them but both are quite thin.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

1) Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, Brabant, Spanish Netherlands, 1549 Jetton. The obverse is similar to the quarter patard of the era, shown here. The reverse shield is similar to the double patard, shown here.

2) France Charles VI Medieval Jetton 1380 to 1422 AD, similar to ones pictured here and here (halfway down the page).

That was a VERY interesting garage sale!

Hard to imagine how two pieces like that found their way to the U.S. and into a garage sale, other than via a curious collector or a curious WWII GI.

(Nice work t360!)

t360. WOW! That was lighting fast! Thank you!

tdziemia. Yes it was quite the garage sale. I picked up about 20,000 coins for $2,250! 98% have been sold. Wife said her deceased and retired husband was a life long coin collector who spent is life in the US Army, yes WWII era and beyond, collecting and then running a coin shop until his death. I didn't scam her, she knew what she was selling and just wanted rid of them.

Thank you two for the chats!
