I would not be surprised if 2023 sees reverse proof Morgan and Peace dollars.
Nor would I.

As long as people keep buying them, the mint will keep making them.

The law simply said the program could not start until 1 January 2021.

One of the Great things about collecting, The Hunt to keep a series or a type set " Complete " one must keep a " full set ", IF it's a Complete Set!!! JMO.

I have been Collecting MORGANS and Peace dollars for a Long Time, collecting coins for Over 50 years.Since then Trying to collect full sets. 1st Whitman Lincoln Cent Book, 1963, was $0.23 cents, Full Complete Sets Count, IF you can!!!! After the Original releases I wanted out. THESE will only drag myself and Others, Back to Hunt, Should they choose to. !!!!

I don't mean to get off subject, but I know the feeling you describe. I dreaded another series of thematic quarters, with all their varieties and finishes, but the U.S. Mint gave me "an out" when it also decided to change the Washington design. As far as I'm concerned, my Washington quarter set was completed this year.

My set ends with 1998. There have been other quarter sets since, but the Washington quarter album was done over twenty years ago.

...wait they weren't? Huh. Wonder why.

(Apparently the law as written allows for 90%, just not any less. Maybe the Mint wanted to be safe.)

The US Mint switched from 90% silver to .999% silver in 2019 for commemorative dollars and other coins. They contract out the silver planchets to be manufactured and sent to the Mint. The authority to do this was signed into law by Obama in 2015 which states not less than 90% allowing the Mint the option to make them .999%. When the Mint announced the 2021 Morgan Peace it was stated they would be made according to commemorative dollar specs, .999% silver, not as the classic originals.

kimber45,

I too thought the same . It makes the 1878-1935 issues, All the more Unique.

In My opinion, the Mint did a Wonderful job bringing back the designs of Days-Gone-Bye.The finish also was Unique, a distant cousin of the Originally designed " uncirculated " Cartwheel, Luster Struck Coins.

Besides the buy in August and receive in October schedule projections, the Mint Delivered when they said they would, Overall, Well Done Job.... Most of the times.!!!!!!!

I see the U S Mint's Product Schedule and it says it will release the MORGAN and PEACE Proof Silver Dollars in the Fall of 2022.

It has been over 116 years since a MORGAN proof was minted.

NEVER has a Proof Peace dollar been issued, that I know of....!!!!!!

I too will have to complete the set series and then MAYBE they will, like others have stated, they will probably mint Reverse Proofs and Enhanced Proofs and Enhanced Reverse Proofs Too.....Lasting to 2035 !!!!!!!!!!! JMO.

Just finished a US Mint survey. They asked how likely I would purchase Morgan & Peace Reverse Proof 2 Coin set for $195.00.

In addition they asked how likely I would purchase a S proof of each for $85, and (P) uncirculated coin of each for $80.

Could this be something to come in the future?
