2000 P Sacagawea (Wounded Eagle?) - Coin Community Forum

The coin of course has had better days and I do not know what to use to clean it up. These coins came from my mom that was tucked away in the closet for a bit LOL. Bumpkin Pillar of the Community United States 509 Posts	Posted 10/21/2021 01:21 am Your Sacagawea dollar has taken a hit on the Eagle's wing and is not even close to the positioning of the 2000-P variety. Your Dollar has an incuse depression in the the wing (or in other words basically a dent). The area affected on the Wounded Eagle variety is raised from the surface of the coin. Yeah I did compare to the ones I've seen on other pages but didn't know if there was a different version of the error. Yeah I don't clean either and wouldn't know what with without making issues so I tend to just let em ride with the junk that is on them. I'll throw this one back in the pit with the other 89 :). coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/21/2021 12:04 pm The "So Called" arrow is raised not incuse: Think a second like a die? To make a coin, the dies design is the opposite that a coin is. Areas raised on the coin will incuse on the die. The outside edge of the die are where the fields are. So in order to create this on the die to show on the coins, the die was damaged on that area of the design. So the sub devices were altered.
