There is no listing for a 1972 P DDR that I can find. After throwing this back in the re-roll pile I came across the 1974 D listing on Variety Vista and it looks almost exact to me. I posted some of Variety Vistas pics at bottom I have not figured out how to do side by side yet. I may be wrong again and it may be Machine Doubling, (which is why it eneded up in the re-roll pile) but it sure looks the same to me..Thanks in advance!
Note how the die markers for that VV listing mention this:
Quote: Reverse has strong MDD - EDS
The true doubled die on that coin is actually much smaller than the MD. I think it is most visible as the separation on the stars and the notch on the lower right side of the E in AMERICA.
Correct. It is not a doubled die. Note all the affected devices are moved metal. On a doubled die, the devices will enlarged in size, not reduced like your coin that shows where the contour of devices was altered.
Thanks all, I just compared pictures and did not read, the first time I saw it I discarded as MD then later when I saw the pics for the 1974 I remembered it, but I did not read like I should have! It is a good imposter of the 74 though
