Looking for expert opinions here. There is so much blotchy toning on this coin, and they are the sellers pictures to boot and I've done the best I can with clearing up the fuzzy pictures, and enlarging and what I'm left with still has me wondering if I'm seeing 7/8 feathers. But if I am, I don't think they came in an S mint mark, and if it's an S ...... well every S I've seen has the S dead center between the D and the O and this is over part of the D. So what are you folks seeing here. An S that was stamped off center, a 7/8 P but then what is that over the D, a mint mark or not? Or is all the blotchy toning just making it look like a mint mark and 7/8 and everything is just in my imagination. HELP?

Sure would like some folks to chime in on this one.

Now with everyone else, definitely a 1878-S, and you could check out vamworld.com to try to find the variety
