I am wondering why my shipments from the mint are originating in places that have nothing to do with the mint?
I have a couple of things I am currently tracking....
This is the first step showing....
Arrived at USPS Regional Destination Facility SHREVEPORT LA DISTRIBUTION CENTER October 27, 2021
Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item
Then on this item
October 28, 2021, 11:23 am Arrived at USPS Regional Facility COPPELL TX DISTRIBUTION CENTER
October 28, 2021, 10:08 am Accepted at USPS Origin Facility IRVING, TX 75063 October 27, 2021
Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item
I find it strange that neither of them show they hit the mail anywhere near a minting facility?
I have never had any real reason to chase this around but I would assume the first U.S.Mail facility it is checked into would be one close to where they are being shipped from....
Anyone able to shed any light on this?

Completely normal so put your mind at ease. The mint does not ship these to consumers, fulfillment companies do. The Memphis area is common, Dallas area has also been used this year.

Well that would explain some of the inconsistency on the outside packaging... Thanks for the information BH1964!

Mine seem to always come from Memphis. Even though they don't give a clue about what is inside, the packaging is always similar so a thief might recognize it anyway. Luckily, I have lived in a subdivision for almost 30 years and haven't had anything stolen. I am knocking on wood now. This year, I sent more money to the US Mint than usual - proof and uncirculated ASEs, reverse proof ASEs, silver proof sets, Kennedy rolls, Morgan and Peace dollars, etc. Whew!

Yep, the mint only mints. They outsource to several facilities to pack and ship. Of the $85 each coin costs I'll bet that 25% is the package and shipping. Assuming each coin costs the mint $40 bucks to make assuming the wages, depreciation and material costs you have another $20 in shipping and packing cost, since the mint doesn't have to be efficient (it's a monopoly after all), the profit on each coin isn't great.
