I traded a 2021 Peace dollar with a busted capsule for this Raw 1885 S
To me in hand it's a attractive Low to mid AU example . I will throw out AU-55 mostly due to the amount of natural luster it still has. Most notably missing on the cheek and neck on the obverse.
Quite attractive in hand . I tried to take a few pics with different lighting and these came out the best .
She has kind of a soft strike for a S which you can see on the chest area of the reverse and above the ear some. Reverse color is closer to what she looks like in hand I would say.

Definitely mid-AU. There isn't much difference in value between AU-53 and AU-55, so I would see this as a bourse floor price haggler between those grades. The luster might make it lean more toward 55, but the circulation scratches might make it lean more toward 53. Pretty much a tossup. Definitely a solid 1885-S.
Rest in Peace

barring the circulation wear the strike is a tad weak. lack of luster will hold this to AU53. I believe the coin had a light cleaning at one time as there are numerous hairlines on both sides all of them going from bottom left to top right. I think it would grade straight though

AU-53. It could be details depending on how the hairlines look in-hand.

I think the bright pics highlight the marks and make the coin look a little brighter than it is. One day I will figure the coin photoing out.
