I was just wondering about the weir farm doubled dies listed on wexler's because at one point I was told you can't have a doubled die on an area that is pressed in to the coin. That's what confuses me. Can someone please help me understand how this is possible and and how did he discover the difference between that sort of doubled die and Machine Doubling? I agree with you, I do not believe Wexler's Weir Farm DDRs are true doubled dies. Just Machine Doubling. I sent Wexler an email regarding these soon after they were first listed, I never got a response.

I'm on the fence about these myself. I can see how this could be considered VERY minor doubling due to the non shelf like appearance on the A and R, especially 002 where the "doubling" is predominately higher than the respective devices. Regardless, if this is true doubling I don't ever see it creating a premium. Nothing will ever take the place of the classes of doubling shown on Copper Lincolns IMHO.

If it were possible then what would it look like?

The letters around the edge and close to the rim are definitely incuse. ART is raised if I am not mistaken. EDIT: I stand totally corrected and my apologies. ART is incuse. I just pulled out one of these same Quarters and now see it is incuse. I will stick to my Lincolns and Jeffersons..... LOL. I am not a Quarter collector, I was wrong

I I had no idea that there was a 2011 one cent listing that is similar to this situation. Thank you for letting me know I will have to take a look at it. The reason I asked in the first place is because I have coins it display similar characteristics but I'm sure most all those are just Machine Doubling or something like that
