Beautiful coin Steve and congratulations on achieving your set goals.
There appear to be quite a few die cracks. Is that typical for the 2 cent series in general, or is this example simply a LDS coin?

Quote: There appear to be quite a few die cracks. Is that typical for the 2 cent series in general, or is this example simply an LDS coin? Die cracks are common. I believe that's due to the alloy being harder than the alloy used on Large Cents. I also believe that's why RD Large Cents from the 1850's are also redder than RD Two Cent Pieces. Perhaps someone with more expertise can chime in? Steve

Very nice! And of course, very nice set as a whole! Puts the 1868 I just picked up to shame.
Congrats!

A super duper set winesteven!!!! Much nicer than my own all MS66 set, most of mine were brown with a few red/brown mixed in. You only need one more upgrade to be at all 66 through that one is not so easy in red - LOL.
Congratulations on a set well done.

Ty2020b - Thank you. As long as your 1868 Two Cent Piece is solid for the grade with nice eye appeal, there is NO shame! All coins with nice eye appeal provide pleasure, regardless of grade. Steve
