I joined a few months ago but this is my first post. My first exposure to coin collecting was when I was about 5 years old (1955) when my Dad bought me my first two Whitman blue coin folders. After that he never had change in his pocket again! My success was limited to "found" coins, no money to purchase them. Needless to say, when most of the holes were filled my interest kinda waned.

Then in the early 80's, during the spike in silver prices (and everything else) I purchased a $100 bag of silver dimes from my local coin dealer as a hedge against the high inflation.

To my surprise the bag was filled with about half Barber dimes and half Mercury dimes! EUREKA! I've been buying and selling predominately Barber dimes and Buffalo nickels ever since on an on again off again "hobby" basis. That's probably where most of my interaction on Coin Community will be focused. Glad I found you!
