I picked up a $1 1967 Canada centennial note this weekend. The serial number is 1867 1967, some sort of gimmick for the centennial. I've done a bit a surfing and noticed several of these notes out there - Can anyone enlighten me as to why Canada would want multiple notes with the same serial? It seems really odd.

I think the real reason is lost in the mists of time, but it probably had something to do with the fact that it was intended as a keepsake. There was another series of these that did have regular serial numbers (and asterisk notes, too).
