I don't have a good example to compare to atm, my one boss is looking through my Charlton for today for some notes. It's the NSF varietys so I want to assume I have the far leaf version but wanted another opinion just to be sure. Also I didn't have a 53 before this find today so either way I'm happy:) I'm using coins and Canada to judge this one. Does not help that the denticles look kind of small on the left side. But ya just want a confirmation from someone who knows nickel varieties. This is a 1953 NSF far leaves? Didn't bother with the obverse pics because I can see it's NSF easily. Also on a side note the beaver is bald lol.

It looks like a Far Leaf but my PUP is the distance of the tail of the 9 to the rim. Unfortunately your thumb is covering it.

If anyone has an example of a close I'd appreciate the photo. It's much easier to judge with a real shot full coin to reference to. As far as I can tell this is far but idk what the close actually looks like for comparison.

Get a Charlton's or a Haxby. They're all in there.

It's a far leaf, but like Okie mentions either coin book is the real treasure. I don't leave home with out my loupe + coin book

You should know I have the 70th addition Charlton:p I just got back home and checked it out and it's easy enough to see it's a far leaf. I don't know much about the Haxby books should I pick one up as well? Edit just for reference on me having the book-_-. I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to post a photo of the actual book so if so please delete it asap, if it's ok then this is just to show I have been reading my Charlton( just was not available at work when I found the coin) the book was mint when I got it a few weeks ago. I have not been friendly enough with it. . I was about to post the page with the specific info but I have to assume that is definitely not ok to do.

Wrekkdd As I said earlier, I use the 9 as my PUP. If there is space between the tail and the denticles, it is a Far Leaf. If it is almost touching then it is a Near Leaf

If you can afford to have a second book, I leave one in my glove box in my car and one in my console of my truck along with a loupe in each vehicle.
It's come in handy many times when cherry picking

papeldog meant for you to buy a 2nd copy of the book, so you always have one with you ... at home and away.

Aww that's not a bad idea at all. Maybe I'll grab a newer edition.
