Can anyone with the cherrypicker's guide tell me if this is valuable?

I don't have the Cherrypicker's Guide but a little info is available on the Internet if you're as anal about it as I am. It's an overdate, right? I was able to find a dealer's sale record of one back in 2004, an AU example which sold at his asking price of $590. In that same time frame, a PCGS AU55 example went on Heritage for just over $200. The dealer's information indicated that there were only 6 known. I'd call that pretty scarce.

I have the 4th ed, Vol II (last year's model) and it's not listed. It may be in the latest edition. Sorry.

Yeah, I found that thing as well. So, would you say $200 for an AU-50 would be a good deal?

So what would it be worth, $400-$450?

Quote: So what would it be worth, $400-$450? More like >$600 if you can get it into a reputable slab. It would be difficult to sell, though, as you'd need a hardcore variety collector for a buyer. And only ANACS will attribute this variety on the slab.

They have a term for things like this at the PCGS Forum. If you post there, you know what I mean, but I can't allow that term to be thrown around as loosely in the family atmosphere we enforce here.

Well I'm not going to quite hold my breath yet. I couldn't tell much even from the close-ups because I'm no expert at these, and it's POSSIBLE that ANACS misattributed it, in which case I can return it. I'll wait until I receive the coin then take magnified pictures of the date and post them in this thread.
I'd lose like $15 on the shipping if that was the case, but I think its worth the small risk.

I guess I took advantage of the fact that, apparently, the average ebay coin buyer does not know how to search google.

From what I see of it I don't think I would pay any kind of premium for it over that of a generic 1898-S dime

Yeah, most people probably won't,the trick is just finding someone who collects a lot of varieties, which might take awhile, but I'm in no rush to sell something like this.
