I found more on the story here.
https://www.wyomingnews.com/rawlins...e3d5ea8.html

There is mention that a class ring was found.

Quote:
Police found a class ring at the scene, according to previous reporting, but Francisco said it's still not known how or if the ring is connected to the murders.

I would concentrate on that ring as it might have been the perps angle to distract the shop owner in the shop and show it to him. That ring may have been stolen from someplace and whomever it was stolen from might help make the connection.
It would have the year and school and the real owner could possibly be a victim of theft or even have a connection directly to the murderer.

Very sad story.

Part of the problem is the being a coin dealer is dangerous and coin dealers have been targets in the past and will be in the future.

We rarely know how these cases resolve. Once the senstationalism dies, they fade to black in the news media.
