There is a thread for the Morgans, but I didn't see one for the Peace.

My CC-Morgan arrived in nice condition. BUT I am rather disappointed with the Peace.

I am new at this game, BUT is the black spot some sort of strike-through? Notice how it is on both the flat area AND within the rim.

ALSO, notice the tiny gouge that is actually a gold/brassy color. How does something that color display on what is supposed to be a solid silver coin? It came direct from The Mint, after all...

Hmmmmmmm...

Sorry for the damage. The dark spots may be planchet flaws. Two of my three Peace had minor dings and two of my three Morgan Philly had minor dings. I think the Mint is supposed to be releasing a statement about return deadlines and damaged coins in coming days. We'll have to wait and see what they may do. As of now your options are like all of us, keep the coins or send them back for refund and you could buy better ones from dealers/sellers paying roughly double price currently. I wasn't able to get the Morgan CC and O. I'm waiting to see if their prices come down. I'm not paying double+ for any of them unless they are graded.

Yea my Peace has the same dings on the neck area, i.e. the most noticeable place. It looks to me it was from another Peace coin nicking it. My other 2 seems ok so I've sent them in for grading. I'm guessing there won't be as many MS70s as people hoped...

All 3 of my Peace dollars were perfect but I had to return 2 of my Morgans for plannchet flaws and dings.

Man, that sucks!
It looks like Carbon spots (or what ever silver gets), a ding in the chin, and Reed Marks on the neck! What is the Mint folks doing over there> playing hockey with them? (maybe tiddlywinks?)

Ouch.

A shame to see so many defective coins are evading quality control.

Sorta seems that way!!

I still don't get the goldy-brassy color being on a silver coin...

LIVINGH2O - should be interesting to see what, if anything, the Mint does. I know it is a pipe-dream, but they should have some sort of "send back your messed up [enter coin here] and we will place you in line to get a 2022 proof version". Of course, there would be TONS of fraud potential, I'm sure. BUT they'd at least get their silver back.

One of mine has a small ding or planchet flaw just below the last "A" in America. Need to magnify to really see it but probably the difference between a 70 and a 69. This one will probably go in my Whitman album with the rest of my Peace dollars. The others look to be flawless - to me.

BTW the black lines and spot on the left ray is junk inside the cap. Typical of the P Morgans and Peace.
