This coin came in a lot and was identified as Johannes, but I just want to make sure it has the correct attribution. On the reverse it looks like an S left of victory which would be consistent I think. It's 10mm 1.03 g

The bust also seems similar to this one : https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=2696869

Hi Mikish-
Here is my take on your coin. Yes, it very could be a Johannes RIC 1910 S type or similar. There is nothing showing that says that it is not. However, there is also not a lot proving that it definitely is. If you are an Emperor type collector you can justifiably stick it in as a Johannes until you can get a better one. Just my take.

This is essentially my impression.

There's a common theory that Johannes portraits have a beard, which... might be true? I don't exactly see a lot of definite Johannes portraits (most coins sold as "Johannes" don't have much more legend than this one), and I do have a few coins in my collection with what looks like a bearded portrait combined with a legend that doesn't match Johannes. To be honest with those late 5th century portraits it's hard to tell if there's a beard in the first place. For all I know that's just Rome mint house style.

For what it's worth the style looks the right period to possibly be Johannes but, again, not like I've seen many that weren't "maybe possibly" as well so there's little to compare.
