I believe this to just be a modified / destroyed reverse on the coin - but I am not sure. Coin weighs about 4.8 grams so its very light and is a correct 90% silver alloy. The back is just so odd. What do you think this is? Thanks for looking!

The reverse was ground off and the punch decoration added by hand - it may have been the start of a love token.

The obverse looks as though something was removed, maybe a pin of some sort?

Yes, 1859 Seated quarter made into a love token. Mintmark was on the reverse so may have been an O or S.

Not much numismatic value, but still a pretty cool find. The love token portion seems to have been done quite well. Maybe the work of a jeweler rather than some dude in a shed?

Definitely a love token, and definitely had a pin back. The initials may have been worn away, or not engraved in the first place. No bonus numismatic value because of the wear and damage.

Since the originator either never finished it or it was converted back to currency and released you could have it finished for your own personalized token....
