VG details cleaned. Looks like someone took a wirebrush and some elbow grease to it. The coin is copper nickel which is significantly harder than bronze.

Interesting question. Curiously I never thought about the possible alternatives. Now that I have thought about it, it's both ! I have three old Merc cars, and about 50 old Merc Dimes.

Those old Mercury's (the cars) are great at demo derby. Of course don't wreck the nice ones but the popular so called Gramma mobiles have a strong frame that is great at it. Once I do get into demo derby (which I am planning to)I'll use one of those. They are cheap and bulletproof

Hey OldFordMan, use some common Cents, an old Lincoln would be a better choice for the derby.

Most of those are mostly the same cars but look different and are branded different. See them a S&S every now and then and they look quite similar stripped and many parts are interchangeable.
