I found this 1870 Seated Liberty quarter in a pile I accquired when I was much younger. It's difficult to get any idea of what grade it would be. It looks very clean - and I am not someone who can tell if something has been clean - or is legitimate. I've taken some close up photos - hopefully that helps.

If anyone can help - please let me know. Thank you!

First off, from all of us, this is an awesome place to learn much about coins, and lots of other things!
To your 1870 quarter, it might not be a bad idea to make your images much larger because it looks like your pics of the coin are too far away to see nice and close so we can better help get your questions answered properly. But based on your actual photos to my eyes, I can't really determine if yours is cleaned or has bright luster from all the detail I see. Your closeups do help a little but we can see what others think here...

Please crop your images and show full pics of both sides of this coin, straight-on.

We'll need some better pictures but I can tell you already that it will likely be a details coin. It looks harshly and improperly cleaned.

100% been messed with. Given the amount of wear and heavy contact marks, in combination with the unnatural reflective surfaces, this one looks to have been fairly heavily polished.

Please just show us straight-on pics of both sides for a fair evaluation.

I had to subscribe to this thread just to hopefully see some better full on pictures. Always a thrill to "Find" coins regardless of the condition and this looks like nice strong details even if it has been cleaned and or polished.

Alas, that heavy tampering turned a $1000 coin into a $200 coin.

Now based on these new photos, your coin definitely has that polished look done sometime after being minted, possibly whizzed, even though it has much detail still remaining.
