Ok a while ago I got some foreign coins from my grand parents. So I was wondering if someone could give me a link and advice on how to care for them properly and how to identify them.

Any help is appreciated

As far as identification, you could post the pics here and I am sure people would be willing to help. We like coin pictures. Otherwise, Red Book is a good place to start. I would bet your local library has one, or you could purchase your own copy.

You are encouraged to post your pics here! We like 'em.
If they are world coins you can pick up or go to library and check out Krause. They only go by century. SO if your coins span 1800's and 1900's say, then you need two Krause.
What years and how many coins have you acquired?

If you don't want to post pics try:

www.numismaster.com

You will have to register for free, but you can research everything except value and mintage numbers. This is probably your best bet if you can't identify the country because they have an OK search engine.

www.(131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed

This site gives values that are a bit dated and has is limited in the number of coins listed/pictured.

+1 on (131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed . It's an excellent site and, best of all, it is free to access. Send Don Norris (the webmaster of (131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed ) a thank you note. There are a lot of different opinions on how to store coins and lots of people do it differently. I am going through my stash of coins now, cleaning them with acetone, and storing them in 2x2 flips.

Post some pictures of the coins if you can. This forum is a great site filled with enthusiasts who can help you identify your coins. I had problems starting off with my Asian coins and the experts here chimed in real quick!
