Can you please help me with this 1976D Penny? It looks like a possible Strike Thru to me. Can you give me your input? Thank you!

This looks to me like a cup holder coin.

Not struck through but rather chemical/environmental exposure leading to surface discoloration. Could be from a cup holder, but I'm going to guess that it was in a water fountain.

Thank you. Finding an error coin is not easy! However, I believe in the law of averages so I'll keep searching! :)

I totally agree with all FIVE statements from above. This is a chemically environmentally altered cup holder discoloured cent that is not a strike through, and yes, true error coins ARE difficult to find because NOT ALL COINS ARE ERROR COINS. The law of averages are such that you can search though 100,000 cents and NOT find a single error coin! We would much rather you find an error coin while collecting coins and come to us with it than trying to find errors in every transaction from your local gas station.

Merc is one of the best! You're in the right the place to continue learning. It's quite the hunt, but if you're like me, the hunt is just as fun as the wins (except the really good wins)
